What is a Scrunchie?

A scrunchie is a hair tie for medium to long hair from the 80s. It’s special because the elastic inside is covered with a piece of fabric. Since the elastic is smaller than the inside diameter of the fabric, the fabric bunches up and creates that classic “ruffled” look.

The name comes from English, because a scrunchie looks like “scrunched fabric”, and it's called the same in every language. In the past, scrunchies had many other names, like hair tie, hair elastic, hair band, or ponytail holder, just to name a few. They were mainly worn by child stars back then, making them a big trend among young people. And now they are back!

Scrunchies are Hip

The scrunchie — the hair accessory that’s totally back in fashion. And it’s been a thing for a while, but apparently, this trend is still going strong today. It’s pretty fun to style your hair with a cheerful scrunchie. But how do you wear one?

How to Wear a Scrunchie

Scrunchies can be worn in many ways. You can make a casual bun or just a half ponytail on top of your head. A small scrunchie at the end of a braid looks really cute. You can also use it for a regular ponytail or wear a matching scrunchie, or two, on your wrist to complete your outfit with matching colors.

Are Scrunchies Good For Your Hair?

Did you know scrunchies are actually much better for your hair? Regular hair elastics tend to stick in your hair and cause breakage. I know this all too well. Scrunchies have an elastic inside wrapped in soft, gathered fabric, which makes them super gentle and prevents my hair from breaking. Luckily, my daughter loves them too; they look amazing, and they help to protect her hair.

The Gentle Power of Bamboo for Your Hair

Our luxury scrunchies are made from natural, soft bamboo fabric. These scrunchies don’t just look elegant with their beautiful shining fabric; they also protect your hair thanks to the silky bamboo material. Our bamboo fabric is made from natural bamboo fibers, a sustainable fabric sourced from the bamboo plant. This means the fabric is chemical-free and safe for your hair and skin.

Soft bamboo reduces hair breakage, prevents creases, helps keep hair from getting greasy too quickly, and suits all hair types. Bamboo is very gentle on your hair

Can You Wash a Scrunchie or Headband in the Washing Machine?

It’s best to use your scrunchie on dry hair to keep the fabric looking its best. You can wash it in the washing machine, but avoid fabric softener because it reduces the softness of the bamboo. Even better, hand wash your scrunchie in lukewarm water with a little, mild detergent.

Because Even Hair Deserves a Bit of Soft Luxury

Another lovely hair accessory is the bamboo headband. Super soft on your hair and face. It’s handy for keeping your hair back when washing your face, but it also looks great in your styled hair.
