I’m excited to share more about natural skincare in my Beauty Blog! How do you make your own natural skincare products? As you may already know, cosmetics are best when they don’t contain any nasty chemicals. The best part is, you can make them yourself—right at home. Organic, natural, and affordable cosmetics are within everyone's reach.
The Best Natural Cosmetics: You Can Buy Them, but You Can Also Make Them Yourself.

The Best Skincare You Can Make Yourself
Making your own skincare products is fun, affordable, and you’re always sure there’s no junk in it. Truly 100% natural, and maybe you even want 100% vegan skincare products. Anything is possible! You can make your own body butter, deodorant, scrub cream, sunscreen, or soap. Simply buy the right ingredients—ideally pure, organic, and raw—and get started!
What’s really handy are the DIY kits you can buy. These come with all the ingredients and the recipe, so you can jump right in. It’s so much fun to do and makes a great gift too. As you go along, you'll discover what works best for you. You just need to start, and that can be a bit of a challenge if you've never tried it before.
What Makes Good Natural Skincare?
You’ll often see ingredients like coconut oil, Aloe Vera, apricot kernel oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, vitamin E, almond oil, beeswax, jojoba oil, and evening primrose oil being used. These ingredients can all have positive effects on the skin, depending on your skin type.
What I personally use is a mix of Aloe Vera and jojoba oil. Of course, in their purest and most natural form. I mix equal parts of both on my hand and apply it straight to my face and neck. First, I spread it out, and then I gently tap it into my skin. It feels so nice! I use it as an anti-aging cream, and my skin reacts really well to it.
Aloe Vera is an excellent calming gel for the skin. It soothes, hydrates, and cools.
What’s the Easiest Skincare Product to Make?
Where to start? The first product you could make at home is body butter. Not only is it super easy to make, but it’s also a beauty product that people of all ages love and use. You can start with a simple, structured recipe.
You can later tweak the recipe to include ingredients that are easy for you to find. However, I recommend that for your first time, you follow a recipe to the letter. This will help ensure your first attempt doesn’t fail, and your motivation to try more doesn’t disappear.
How Do You Make Your Own Cosmetics?
Start by choosing a product. What do you want to make—body butter, maybe? Then choose a good recipe for making your own cosmetics and gather all the necessary ingredients and materials. After that, get your workspace ready. Everything needs to be clean, and don’t forget to wash your hands!
Now, you’re ready to make your cosmetic product. Follow the recipe closely, and it’s almost guaranteed to turn out great. Remember: practice makes perfect, so don’t be afraid to experiment and try new recipes.

A lip balm is also a great starting point if you're new to making your own cosmetics. Most lip glosses and balms available today aren’t always made from pure, organic, and natural ingredients. You can make your own lip gloss that hydrates for hours with these instructions:
Mix equal parts coconut oil, almond oil, and beeswax and gently heat the mixture in a double boiler. This means you melt the ingredients in a heatproof bowl placed over gently simmering water. Once the ingredients have melted, take the bowl off the heat and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the mixture. Then pour the warm mixture into a small jar and let it cool and solidify. You can apply the lip balm with your finger whenever you need it.
Shelf Life and Storage
Personally, I’m not interested in using unnecessary additives in my cosmetics. My real focus is on making skincare with 100% natural ingredients, without any nasty chemicals. When you make your own fully natural skincare at home, without preservatives and synthetic ingredients, it's best to avoid water and use anhydrous products, like oils. That way, you don’t have to worry about it spoiling.
Everything you make yourself is best used up within three months. That way, it stays fresh, potent, and safe. You don’t even need to store it in the fridge, so that’s convenient. In reality, a water-free cream lasts much longer—about a year—so you’ll have plenty of time to use up that last bit!
